The Harmonie Verein is hosting a series of speakers sharing various topics.  “Forgotten Trunk in the Attic,” with Galen Gritts, kicks off the 2024 series on January 14 at 2 pm.  Using startling facts as stepping stones to fascinating and forgotten stories, this presentation brings to light a piece of our Missouri Native American history.  Tickets are $7.00 and may be purchased online at the Harmonie Verein website or at the door.

Missouri, like most states in the center of the U.S., has no extant tribes like some other states have. Therefore, the knowledge of either the history of Natives or the experience of contemporary Native Americans is one step further removed from people’s consciousness.  May Galen Gritts (Cherokee) help us to remedy the awareness of  Native American tribes in today’s world.
